The former F1 driver Romain Grosjean quit Formula One after his horrific accident in the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. Further, he could not drive for Haas in the last two races that season. However, Mercedes and Toto Wolff promised the driver that they will let him test drive the Mercedes challenger. Recently, Grosjean revealed his helmet for that test drive that never happened.

Who could forget that horrific accident at the 2020 Grand Prix? It left Romain Grosjean with burns and he couldn’t finish the season. But the Silver Arrows wanted to give the former Haas driver a proper farewell. So, they planned a full day of testing of the 2019 championship-winning challenger W10 for Grosjean.

However, the travel restrictions because of COVID-19 never let the plan to be fulfilled. Many even think that it is one of those forgotten promises that will never happen. But recently, the former f1 driver shared on his YouTube channel, the helmet he plans to wear on that Mercedes testing.

Romain Grosjean also revealed that the Mercedes testing plan is still on while sharing his excitement about the Abu Dhabi finale he witnessed a few months back. Grosjean said, “I sent a message to Toto after Abu Dhabi… Well, I left a couple of weeks, a few weeks going by, and then I sent a message to Toto, and he did reply. He started ‘Thank you,’ and then the last sentence was, ‘We need to get you in that car this year.”

How’s the 2022 season going for Mercedes so far?

The eight-time constructor’s title winner is having the worst season at the moment. The Silver Arrows didn’t have great pre-season testing. Then they were struggling throughout the season opener in Bahrain. Despite that, Lewis won a third-place podium thanks to the Red Bull duo retiring from that race. Further, the new addition George Russell finished P4.

The poor performance haunted the Silver Arrows even in the Jeddah circuit, where Hamilton and George finished P10 and P5. Both the Mercedes drivers are struggling with the 2022 challenger. The Mercedes W13 is experiencing a significant amount of porpoising. So, the Brackley base is working on the issue, but it is affecting the developments of the other aspects of the car.
