Well, that was not the best qualifying of the season at the Turkish Grand Prix, but it sprang a few surprises. The performer of the session was Haas driver, Mick Schumacher. Despite driving what is arguably the most uncompetitive car on the grid, the German driver will somehow start the race in P14.
He put on an outstanding lap to finish ahead of a Ferrari and a McLaren. His performance earned him praises from all quarters, including from former Haas driver Romain Grosjean.

Romain Grosjean praises rookie Haas driver on his Q2 lap
The newly appointed Andretti Autosport driver took to social media to sing praises of the rookie’s quali run. The lap impressed the former F1 driver by Schumacher to put his car ahead of the faster cars.

Grosjean wrote on Twitter,” Nice work. @SchumacherMick.”
The Haas driver put his car into Q2 on merit as he capitalized on an ever-improving track. He and the team took the gamble to do one more lap, which proved to be the right call.
It is Haas’s second Q2 showing of the season after Mick had put the car in the second session after colliding with the barriers in France in the dying moments.

Mick Schumacher was also happy with his lap as he analyzed his performances. He mentioned that the conditions on the track were really tricky and he enjoyed the session.

“Yeah, it was definitely great. Those tricky conditions were fun to drive, and I just enjoyed it. I just did what I did best, and that’s drive, so I think we as a team took the right decisions at the right time.
“We have analyzed properly and went through all the steps we usually do but we just seemed to have found the right setup for the right conditions,” said Mick.

It would be difficult for Schumacher to hold the faster cars behind him in the race. He would be hoping that the conditions do change tomorrow for the race, which will assist him in keeping his position and also try to move ahead in the race.
