Romain Grosjean appears set to compete in the IndyCar series for the upcoming 2021 season. The Frenchman lost his seat at Haas last year after a string of disappointing performances. His final F1 campaign ended prematurely after a horrific crash in Bahrain in which he suffered serious burns.
The man with 10 F1 podiums to his name has previously stated his desire to race in the famous IndyCar series before. However, reports suggest that this dream is soon to be a reality.
According to a report from RACER, the ex-Haas driver is close to inking a deal with Dale Coyne Racing. The report further states that an official confirmation could come as early as next week.

Dale Coyne Racing is the only team in IndyCar that is yet to announce their driver lineups for the season.
The team’s 2020 driver lineup consisted of Santino Ferruci and Alex Palou, but neither driver will be continuing with the team this season. The former will race in the NASCAR Xfinity series while the latter has moved to rivals Chip Ganassi Racing.
The former Lotus driver was initially thought to be joining AJ Foyt Enterprises. However, talks of that dissipated once the team announced that they had signed Dalton Kellet.

Ever since he joined Haas, more often than not, the Frenchman was competing at the back of the grid. In his last season with the team, they were desperately trying to beat Williams in order to avoid staying at the bottom of the table.
At Dale Coyne Racing, Grosjean will have a much better car and could at least compete in a stacked mid-field and could even knick a podium or two in the season.

His ex-Haas teammate, Kevin Magnussen, too has moved away from F1 in search of success and trophies. The Dane recently competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona and spoke on the differences in driving for Haas and his new team, Chip Ganassi.
At IndyCar, Romain won’t be the lone former F1 driver. The likes of Juan Pablo Montoya, Takuma Sato, Marcus Ericsson, Sebastien Bourdais should ensure that Grosjean won’t feel alien in what appears to be his new home as he enters into the twilight of his motor racing career.
