The drivers’ and the team principals’ silly season may well be over and left behind in the past, but one that hasn’t and can never be over is the one involving engineers. With teams continuously looking to evolve their cars, they are on the lookout for the best of technical staff, and one name that came up for transfer was that of the Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull, Adrian Newey. The transfer rumors of the genius, the mastermind behind Max Verstappen’s emergence, were quickly addressed by Christian Horner. And now, Newey himself has put an end to the rumors by signing an indefinite extension, as reported by Motorsport.
With declining performances, McLaren and AlphaTauri, among other teams, have been on the lookout for talent. Thus, Newey’s name was part of the speculation, as his contract was coming to an end at the end of the season. Red Bull, taking no risks with the aerodynamicist, moved quickly and secured his signing. Now, the brain behind several championship-winning cars will stay further, rumored for at least until the 2026 regulations, giving more reasons to the Red Bull fans to celebrate in addition to the dominance over the weekend in Baku.
For Red Bull, signing an extension with Newey was important following the key departure of Dan Fallows last year. Furthermore, two more engineers were reported to leave for Ferrari, as little birdies say that the third in line, Enrico Balbo, Red Bull’s Head of Aerodynamics, could be heading to Ferrari at the start of 2024.

The fans know the importance of Newey staying with the team. However, they know very well that he could stay longer than the star driver, Max Verstappen himself.
