When one door closes, another opens! This might not be completely true with F1, ask Andretti Autosport. However, the German car manufacturer Porsche is putting shame on the efforts of the American racing conglomerate. How? Well, as reported after the US Grand Prix, Porsche has found another way into the premier class.

Porsche had to resort to an alternative option when their deal with Red Bull Racing fell through. Porsche wanted an equal partnership with the championship-winning team, much more than being an engine supplier. However, after both parties parted ways following the disagreement, Porsche looked elsewhere.
That’s when the German company landed on their new outlet in Formula 1, Williams. Williams has a long and rich history in the sport, but recent years have not been kind to the team. The constant struggles lead to the sale of the team to the American firm Dorilton Capital.
Now reportedly, the American firm will have a partner and an engine supplier in Porche from 2026 onwards. Former Ziggo Sport reporter Jack Plooij broke the news. He said, “Latest news: Porsche is talking to Williams. 50 percent owner and supplier of engines from 2026. Almost done that deal.”

Plooij did not cite the source, but the information translated by GP Blog seems to be accurate. Multiple sources are picking up on this possible partnership as well.
This is a big win for the Volkswagen Group with two of their sister companies entering the pinnacle of motorsport as early as 2026.
What does Porsche’s entry into F1 with Williams mean for the team?
Not just for Volkswagen Group, this is a win for a struggling Williams side as well. This is positive news in terms of competitiveness as well. How? The cash flow from the Porche deal and the superior engines will definitely make the Grove-based team more competitive.
More competitiveness means more excitement and the Williams fans are all for it as well.

The fans are already marking this possible partnership as the “Return of Williams.”
A return for Williams to the top of the grid… oof, now that would get me excited about F1 again. Although RUS would be FUMING if it went on to beat Mercedes 😂

If we sadly lose the Williams name in F1 and Porsche buy the team can we all agree to still call them Williams??

this would make a lot of sense, I bet Williams' investors wouldn't mind cashing out 50% of the business through Porsche and get a significant cash injection into the business https://t.co/mUvmmTwF4f

Like all these types of things how far does one believe them but wow if Porsche was to buy into Williams what a change to things that would be. Some really positive but in others negative. https://t.co/RhotMPBhn6

This is crazy but I think Williams could use the cash and this gives Porsche what they need and want. https://t.co/UGBqKDaE66
