Sebastian Vettel is known for his dedication and his disciplined work ethic in the F1 paddock. Since he joined Aston Martin in 2021, he has helped the team immensely to improve their car performance. Arguably, these efforts by the German drive saw them clinch their first podium at Baku last year.
While the 2022 car has been struggling, Vettel has had some sensational race results, especially off-late in Japan and the USA.
On Vettel’s form and work ethic, Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack said, “it’s really nice to see him work. I think we had to kick him out of the office [on Friday night in Mexico]”
He reasoned that the car’s improving performance has certainly motivated him to work harder for the team, even when he’s retiring at the end of the season.
Krack praised Vettel’s efforts and dedication to the team. He stated, “Otherwise, he would have still been there, studying data, looking at where you can change things. So he’s not on a farewell, this I can tell you for sure. He really wants to do well. He wants to bring us forward and bring his part to finish the season in the best possible place.”

The 4-time World Champion has been acclaimed by many as one of the most professional drivers in the sport. Yet he wants to maximize his contribution to the Silverstone-based outfit on their future in F1 as a team.
How does the F1 Paddock feel about Sebastian Vettel Retiring?
His former boss at Red Bull, Christian Horner, was always in awe of the German’s discipline towards his work. Horner mentioned, “I think the thing that stood out about Seb was, from the very beginning, you could see he was a very focused young man and his work ethic was totally Germanic.”
He said that Vettel worked hard, worked late, and always looking to study more data and gain more insights.

Lewis Hamilton also expressed his feelings about his rival and friend. The Brit wrote on social media, “Seb, it’s been an honor to call you a competitor and an ever greater honor to call you my friend. Leaving this sport better than you found it is always the goal. I have no doubt that whatever comes next for you will be exciting, meaningful, and rewarding. Love you, man”

Although Sebastian hasn’t ruled out a return to F1, albeit just for a guest drive at his favorite track, Suzuka. We can continue to hope for a full-time return to the sport, given the right opportunity (calling Audi, perhaps).
With the final two races in Brazil and Abu Dhabi, Vettel seems determined to end his career on a high with Aston Martin. While a podium may be sweet and a fairy tale finish, a strong top 6 finish is certainly realistic for the German to sign off from F1. Still, do you think Sebastian might consider returning to F1 ever again?
