In an unfortunate turn of events, 18-year-old Dilano Van’t Hoff passed away while pursuing his passion to reach the pinnacle of Motorsport one day. The 4th round of FRECA (Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine) was held in Belgium this weekend. The second race of the weekend took place in treacherous conditions. Some may even advise that it was undrivable. After a multiple-car accident on the Kemmel Straight, Van’t Hoff was stranded in the middle of it. Unsighted by the spray, Adam Fitzgerald didn’t see the 18-year-old’s car and T-boned it.

The whole Motorsport community was sent into a shock with many not able to process what had just happened. Van’t Hoff was a Dutchman and her mom suggested that Max Verstappen was his idol. The current championship leader paid his tribute and shared F1’s post on his Instagram story and wrote a heartfelt message on Twitter. Now, Lewis Hamilton has followed in his rival’s footsteps and shared the same post on his story with the caption Heartbreaking. My thoughts are with his family”

Motorsports have been significantly made safer than they were before, but still, one cannot guarantee what may happen in case of a big accident. It is moments like this when despite the rivalry, everybody comes together and wishes for the same thing, i.e. for something like this to never happen again. Anthoine Hubert, Charles Leclerc’s good friend, also crashed at Spa Francorchamps which took his life. Let’s see how teams and drivers paid their tribute.

F1 Teams and Drivers pay tribute to Dinalo Van’t Hoff

While Max Verstappen just shared the post on Instagram, the Dutchman wrote some heart-touching lines for his fellow Dutchman. Fernando Alonso shared a picture of Van’t Hoff with a broken heart as the caption. Mercedes, Ferrari, Alpine, and McLaren along with the other team, everyone shared a story or a post about the tragic passing. The CEO of F1 chipped in as well and wished the beat for Hoff in the afterlife.

According to SkySports.com, Stefano Domenical said “We are so sad to learn of the passing of Dilano van ‘t Hoff today at Spa-Francorchamps. Dilano died in pursuit of his dream to reach the pinnacle of motorsport. Along with the entire motorsport community, our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
