The upcoming Formula 1 season in 2022 seems to be shaping up nicely for Ferrari. And why wouldn’t that be? The Italian giants have been single-mindedly preparing for 2022 ever since their terrible 2020 season.

And now, according to recent reports, Ferrari has made another breakthrough with their new car, and it’s a big one.

Unfortunately for the Tifosi, they might not be able to see it. This is because the breakthrough in question is related to fuel, and more specifically, the new E10 fuel that would be in effect from 2022. F1 is transitioning to E10 fuel from next year, which is made of 90% fossil fuels and 10% ethanol.

According to Motorsport, Shell, Ferrari’s fuel partner, has found a way to recover as much as 20hp with the 2022 engine compared to their rivals.

It was earlier reported that Ferrari had to redesign and modify their combustion chambers for the new fuel that cost them power. But now with the recent reports, it seems that they’ve not lost the power.

Ferrari want as many wins as possible according to Binotto

Recently, team principal Mattia Binotto had explained their ‘realistically ambitious’ goals for the next season. “It is presumptuous to declare today that we will beat Mercedes and Red Bull, because I think the correct approach is to set ourselves the goal of wanting to play it,” he said.

Binotto added, “How many races do we want to win? As much as possible, when I say that as Ferrari we must always strive for the best, it’s true, we don’t want to start a low season in terms of expectations.”

The fact that Ferrari is banking a lot on the 2022 season is no secret to anyone. Whether these developments bear fruit or not, is something we’ll all see and something that depends on many factors.
