As far as F1 is concerned, the ban on Russian-licensed F1 drivers is currently the talk of the town. After the United Kingdom, this time it’s the Australian Motorsport. The top house for Motorsport in Australia is already giving it a thought.

The Australian Motorsport is in the news as they intend to follow the United Kingdom’s way of responding to the ongoing situation. The UK has already banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from taking part in their country. And only time will tell if Australia follows the same path.

Talking about Australian Motorsport’s action in response to the conflict, a Motorsport Australia spokesperson told Motorsport.com, “The matter is under review in consultation with federal authorities and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation,” However, Motorsport UK has taken a decision by going beyond the decision taken by the FIA.

Why such action is taken in F1?

As everyone is already aware of the Russian-Ukraine dispute, the sporting associations globally have decided to take the necessary steps. FIFA has banned all the Russian clubs and Russian National Team to take part. Similarly, every other global sporting federation is following the same. FIA, however, played a different card here.

The F1 governing body initially allowed Nikita Mazepin to drive under a neutral flag. This, however, went against the recommendations by IOC to ban them indefinitely. This action by the FIA comes as F1 doesn’t have any Russian team on the line-up. It is only the team Haas that had their title sponsor Uralkali, coming from the largest country in the world, and a Russian driver named Nikita Mazepin.
