German automobile giant Audi is looking for an opportunity to be in Formula 1. It is believed that Audi put a huge bid to gain a position at McLaren. However, McLaren’s response to this is still unknown.

Formula 1 has gained massive popularity around the globe in recent years. Big brands from all over the world are trying to enter the sport. Most recently this year, American tech giants Oracle and Google set their foot in F1 after having lucrative sponsorship deals with Red Bull and McLaren, respectively.

According to Automobilewoche, Audi raised the offer to 650 million Euros to gain a foothold in McLaren. Moreover, it is believed that Volkswagen, the parent company of Porsche and Audi, has given the outfits a positive nod to enter F1.

While Porsche is trying to negotiate a deal with Red Bull, Audi is trying to tie up with McLaren.

With big companies such as Dell Technologies, Gulf, Coca-Cola, Logitech, etc already sponsoring the Woking-based team, Google joined the party last month when they announced a multi-year deal with McLaren.

McLaren is one of the most popular teams in F1. Not just in terms of popularity, the team has delivered again and again. The Woking-based team has eight constructor’s championships (as same as Mercedes) and 12 driver’s championships. However, the team hasn’t performed too well in the last few years.

Except for the 1-2 at Monza by Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris last year, McLaren doesn’t have much to show in the last few years. Despite such performance, the British team managed to settle for P4 in Constructor’s Championship.

As things stand, the Papayas are in a troublesome situation. With just six points in two races already, McLaren seems to be way off where they are supposed to be. Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo finished outside points in Bahrain. A week later, Daniel had to retire in Saudi Arabia, as he lost drive in his car. But Lando fetched six points that night to save the face of the team. As of now, McLaren is in P8 in driver’s standings ahead of Williams and Aston Martin.
