Alex Albon left Red Bull last season to make way for Sergio Perez. However, he is said to make a return to F1 next season, but not with the Milton-Keynes-based outfit, instead, there’s a possibility of signing for Williams.
George Russell has long been rumored the leave the Grove-based outfit for Mercedes in 2022. Hence, to fill in that seat, Williams has made it a top priority to get the Thai driver on board, rather than the likes of Formula E world champion, Nyck De Vries, or Guanyu Zhou.

Jost Capito weighs in on Williams’ seat situation
The CEO of the Grove-based outfit has given his thoughts about potential drivers for Williams if Russell leaves. He hopes that the driver is willing to give his best for the team, and fits perfectly at Williams.
He said, “The main thing is, we want to have the best drivers that are available and interested to drive for Williams and interested in doing the job for Williams. It’s not definitely the driver who wants to be world champion next year – for us, he would be in the wrong team.
“We need drivers who are willing to support the team, to get the team back, to lead the team, and to improve performance. At the moment we can see the interest in drivers to get to Williams is increasing,” Capito concluded.
