The Renault F1 team haven’t had the greatest of starts to the 2020 season. They are coming into the Hungarian Grand Prix with just 8 points from two races. They faced some cooling issues in Austria, with Daniel Ricciardo having to retire in the first race while Esteban Ocon had to do the same in the second one.
However, the biggest talking point from the second race, from Renault’s perspective, was the duel between the two teammates. According to F1 journalist Mikolaj Sokol, “Ricciardo says that after the race he and his team raised the topic of sluggish action with a tactical swap of position between him and Ocon in the Styrian GP – in his opinion the next time strong instructions will appear.”
Ricciardo will be hoping to improve his performances at the Hungaroring. The Australian finished the last race in P8 and bagged four points as a result. The weekend prior to that, Ricciardo was on course for a solid points finish but as mentioned earlier, cooling issues with his Renault RS20 forced him to retire with zero points.

They have shown that they have the pace to cause other teams some problems. However, over the course of the weekend, the just haven’t been consistent enough.
It’ll take some more oomph from the Enstone-based outfit if they are to go neck and neck with their rivals. Their drivers clearly have the talent to do so. But is the RS20 reliable enough? Fans will find out the answer during the course of the season.
