Daniel Ricciardo has probably seen it all in F1. From the majestic highs to the gruesome lows, the Australian driver has endured a roller coaster ride in Formula 1. With his future still in the dark, let us look back at his comments whilst he was still in Red Bull.

Daniel Ricciardo shocked the F1 fraternity when he announced he would be leaving Red Bull and joining Renault, the French manufacturer which was led by Cyril Abiteboul. Moreover, Renault was also the engine provider for Red Bull Racing back then.

Speaking on the ‘In The Pink’ podcast, Daniel explained how Renault and Red Bull had a deal that saw both the teams get an ‘updated, equal’ engines.

Daniel further explained how he believed that “Renault would take a World Title in any way they could”, even if it was through their customers, the Red Bull Racing team.

The Australian said“Yeah, I kinda feel that Renault would take a World Title in any way they could, you know especially with Mercedes dominance over the last four years. So um, I would feel it would be, them you know better winning than not winning with us”

While nobody could have predicted the future to pan out this way, Daniel Ricciardo will be disappointed with how his career has unfolded. Having driven for Red Bull, Renault and McLaren, The Australian now finds himself struggling for a seat to drive next year.

Daniel Ricciardo says he is open to an Alpine reunion

McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo has had a rough few months. With all the drama surrounding his compatriot Oscar Piastri, Alpine, and McLaren, Ricciardo has been a hapless victim. With time running out for next year’s seat confirmation, the Australian accepted that he’d be open to an Alpine return.

However, whether Alpine wants him back or not is another question given how things ended between the two.

When asked if he would consider returning to Alpine, Daniel Ricciardo replied, “Yes.”

He further stated, “I think how it ended, yes, It was tough because we made the announcement before racing had even started that year and it was COVID and there was a lot going on.”

The Australian added, “So for sure, it was a little bit…awkward is probably the right word for it, but I think once we went racing and once we had the year we had, I think everyone saw that I was dedicated to making the most of that year.”

Daniel Ricciardo stood twice on the podiums with Renault F1. Furthermore, he also finished 5th with them in the Driver’s Standing in 2020.
