Sauber’s partnership with telecommunications giant Telmex paved the way for the Mexican’s signing in 2011, aligning him with the Ferrari Driver Academy. His breakthrough came in 2012, when he clinched his maiden podium at the Malaysian Grand Prix, fiercely battling Fernando Alonso for the lead. However, a move to McLaren in 2013 saw Perez endure a challenging season plagued by poor performance.
After his Force India tenure, Checo partnered with Nico Hulkenberg for three seasons before Esteban Ocon joined him for two years. Lance Stroll replaced Ocon in 2019. Despite a brief stint, Perez’s departure was unique as Red Bull offered him a seat. Throughout his career, Mexican showcased his talent driving for Sauber, McLaren, Force India (later Racing Point), and currently, Red Bull Racing. Thus, this would be the last season for Checo in Red Bull, and who will replace his seat and become Max Verstappen’s teammate remains unclear.
