Ferrari arrived in 2023 with a sense of confidence in their new car. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz sang praises for the SF-23 during its launch. However, once the season took off, multiple challenges presented themselves. To begin with, Red Bull were miles ahead in terms of speed. And most importantly, their own car is facing some dire reliability issues. As we approach Azerbaijan, the Prancing Horse’s development plans have come to the fore. However, instead of exciting the Tifosi, it has turned out to be a dud affair.
Red Bull’s speed in the season opener in Bahrain came as a shocker to Mercedes as well. The 1-2 finish for the Austrian team had George Russell predicting every race win for them. Soon, Lewis Hamilton dubbed it the fastest car he had ever seen. Frustrated, Toto Wolff talked about developing their car on their rivals’ concept and that he didn’t care if it ended up looking like the RB-19. Looks like Ferrari are already on their way to executing it and overcoming the 15-year trophy drought.

After finishing runner-up in the drivers’ and constructors’ championship last year, Ferrari have fallen down the pecking order in 2023. That is courtesy of their own issues and the arrival of a new challenger, Aston Martin. Moreover, many, including Red Bull’s own personnel, have accused the Silverstone-based team of copying their concept.
If Motorsport Italy’s report is to be believed, Ferrari are ready to go down that road as well. The report discloses the Maranello-based team’s plans for development for the next 3 GPs. The ultimate target is to replicate the Milton Keynes team’s concept.
Take a look at how fans reacted to the development.

One fan predicted that every team, by the end of the season, will end up adopting Red Bull’s design philosophy. That perhaps would be the biggest compliment for Adrian Newey and team.
Can’t wait to see a field of red bulls by the end of summer https://t.co/EEWRwn2EtD

One fan took a dig at Aston Martin’s design and now Ferrari’s newly unveiled development plans.
There are already 4 Red Bull cars on the grid and they will become 6 💀 https://t.co/gn2jn2Vwnx

Ever since the car’s launch, Ferrari earned quite some praise for its side pod concept. However, the plans reveal that it will be phased out as well. Some fans did not like that.
Ferrari adopting the RB style sidepods instead of pursuing their current concept is extremely disappointing. https://t.co/TYKqKztfK3

shame about the sidepods

It would be really sad to see that beautiful sidepod design disappear. It clearly has advantages since teams like Haas, Alpine and AM have implemented variations thereof. I'm hoping more for a merge between the Ferrari and RB design, a bit like what we see AM.

Why are ferrari bringing a new sidepod design, that aero package worked on the F1-75 we've discovered the limitation is with the 15mm raise to the floor so they can't create the ground effect they wanted, does anyone have a good explanation as to why they would be changing it?

Others felt that the championship win, for this season, was a lost cause now that the red team was planning a complete overhaul of their car.
Fighting for the championship currently seems like a lost cause even in such a long season but if Ferrari can improve the car and successfully develop in a stronger direction that will still be something to be proud of and a positive for the team to build on 💪

Will these update make them the fastest car on grid, dont think so. RB have developed this concept for almost 2 years now. Ferrari hoping for miracle i guess.

Do you think Ferrari will be able to challenge Red Bull once they are done with the changes planned? Or will the defending champions once again pull clear because, let’s face it, they are not going to rest on their laurels and stop developing their own car?
