He is in a midfield car in which he has won a race and been on the podium on 2 separate occasions. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko mentioned he is aware of the performances of Gasly.

Pierre has a contract with AlphaTauri till the end of the 2023 season. After next season, he will be one of the most sought-after drivers in the F1 paddock. in light of this, Marko revealed he is aware of the possibility of Red Bull losing their academy driver to one of the rivals.

Will Pierre Gasly go back to Red Bull after 2023?

It is fair to say that Gasly had an underwhelming stint while he was in Red Bull. He was out qualified and outraced by his then-teammate Max Verstappen regularly. His inconsistent and uncompetitive performances in the Red Bull meant he was demoted to their junior team in the middle of 2019.

But since then, he has thrived in leading AlphaTauri to surprising results on the grid. Red Bull’s advisor mentioned that if the French driver is not promoted to the senior team once again, they might risk losing him after 2023.

“We still have plenty of time for that, at least until the middle of the season. We have a contract with Gasly until 2023, but if that contract expires and we don’t give him the opportunity to promote to the main team, we will most likely lose him. And we don’t want that either,” said Marko.

It looks unlikely that the French driver would go back to Red Bull after his contract expires. It was clear to see that he was not comfortable with the team and could not handle the pressure that came with it.

So it is likely that the Austrian team might lose one of their brightest stars. One team that might be interested in him after 2023 could be McLaren.
