Following Max Verstappen‘s victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix in early March, Jos Verstappen had told reporters that Red Bull was “in danger of being torn apart” and “will explode”. The outburst came after Christian Horner’s controversy broke the internet. This started a domino effect of speculations including Verstappen’s exit but the latest one is pointing at Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull. But are Christian Horner and the company aware of this? Apparently not!

Newey has served at Milton Keynes for two decades overseeing two dominant eras, one with Sebastian Vettel becoming a four-time world champion and the current one with Max Verstappen, who is on his way to win his fourth world title. While reports suggest that this decision has come after the Christian Horner debacle, there hasn’t been any official announcement yet.

According to Skysports, Red Bull Racing told Craig Slater that “they are unaware of any official communication from Adrian Newey notifying of his intention to serve notice and to leave Red Bull Racing”. Slater also noted that Adrian Newey’s contract with Red Bull is until the end of 2025 and he needs to serve a year of gardening leave after that, which would mean he would not be able to join another Formula 1 team until 2027.

Can Adrian Newey join Ferrari?

Wouldn’t that be dreamy? In his book, Adrian Newey has himself expressed his eagerness to work with Ferrari and also the likes of Lewis Hamilton. As fate has it, the two elements of this recipe can be found in one place. So could that Newey’s move to the Prancing Horse really become a reality? While the gardening leave and still a year to go with the RB aspect can be a bit of a buzzkill for Tifosi, the Italian Media is already reporting a transfer.

Formula Passion has suggested that Newey is already in advanced stages of contract negotiations with Ferrari. The Red Bull chief technical officer has been offered the role of technical supervisor and super consultant by the Italian Team. If this is true and Maranello manages to steal him from RB without having to wait till 2027, Adrian’s lifelong wish will come true.
