Daniil Kvyat, also Kelly Piquet’s baby daddy, was described by Red Bull TP Christian Horner as the real deal when he was set to fill in for the mighty Sebastian Vettel. However, the marriage with Milton Keynes soon turned sour, and the man was demoted in favor of the young prodigy Max Verstappen. The man who could have been was pushed to Toro Rosso, and the rest is a rather unfortunate downward spiral. And the recent revelation regarding Red Bull’s rival can only make us live in a “what if”
Daniil Kvyat is set to join the factory Lamborghini LMDh line-up in endurance racing next year. However, the man who is an ex-Formula 1 racer has had a rather tumultuous journey when it comes to his time at Red Bull. He only got one complete season with them in 2015. And while he spent a year at Ferrari as their reserve driver, he made a comeback to Red Bull’s sister team, only to be ousted mid-season in favor of Pierre Gasly. However, a ‘scarlet’ insight by the man himself makes us witness the regret.
Speaking to Track Limits podcast, Kvyat said, “I was performing really well. And I just scored another podium for the team [at the 2016 Chinese Grand Prix] and then at the time I had also a proposal to race for Ferrari to replace Kimi [Raikkonen]. That was going on behind the curtain.”

He then moved on to make the shocking revelation. He said, “So it was a very difficult situation also for me mentally to go back from being wanted by Ferrari and having seen the contract and then you go back to Toro Rosso suddenly and then you’re like, it’s not going very well suddenly.”
While the replacement of Daniil with Verstappen paid off for Red Bull as they currently stand at the top of the WDC tally currently, the future doesn’t seem very bright due to the penalty and restrictions imposed on them.
Is the dominance of Max Verstappen and Co. in trouble?

A few days ago, Frederic Vasseur had said that the “very light” penalty for budget cap breach doesn’t seem to affect Red Bull’s dominance. To which Horner had replied saying that it will manifest in the season going forward. And Stefano Domenicali, the F1 CEO, is of the same opinion.
According to soymotor.com, Stefano Domenicali said, “If a team is faster than the others, congratulations, they did a better job, If you look at the rest of the teams, the group is very, very close.” Further adding, “I am very sure that with the budget limit, this situation will evolve in the best way for better competition. We have to wait and see the effect of the sanction that they had last year with the reduction of the wind tunnel. The championship is very long and I think we are going to have good surprises at the end.”
