Red Bull Racing has emerged as the dominant F1 team this season. The team bagged both titles far ahead of the final races. The Austrian team bagged the constructors’ championship even before the last races could commence. And the Red Bull golden boy, Max Verstappen, bagged the driver’s championship a week prior to that.

Max Verstappen has been consistently climbing the ladder, and this season has by far served him best. With his last win in Mexico City, Verstappen broke the record of legendary F1 drivers like Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel by achieving the most wins in a single season (14).

The advisor at the Austrian team, Helmut Marko, shares his thoughts on the season in an interview with ‘Auto Motor und Sport’. Looking back, he said“To be honest, there are a lot more races these days. But after a few months everyone will forget what the foundation was and it will certainly not be easy to set this record again.” [Translated using Google]

“And let’s not forget: there are still two races to go,” he added.

Furthermore, the Red Bull man shared that after having won the titles, Sergio Perez is now focusing on getting the second position in the championship. This would make Red Bull unbeatable. Considering the chances of such good odds are unusual for any team despite their hard work. Therefore, they want to make the most of it.

Marko explained, “If you have already achieved everything else, then you go for such candies. You also need an incentive for people to keep their motivation at the top.”

He explained, “What was Max’s statement again in Australia: I need 36 races to come back? ‘After that we intensified our program and the errors were analyzed. The first two dropouts were on the Red Bull side and the third was on Honda. We then improved quality control.”

As per many, Max Verstappen struggled with the Red Bull car at the beginning of the current season. However, as the quality control added value to their car, Max rose to the occasion. With him being faster than his teammate, Sergio Perez, many implied that the car was worked around the Dutchman’s needs.

When questioned about the same, Marko clarified, “That’s nonsense, of course. The biggest problem was being overweight.”
