Max Verstappen’s father once left him at a gas station during his karting days after the father-son duo had an argument. Whilst Jos Verstappen no longer drives Max Verstappen around, he’s been missing from the F1 action for quite some while now. But where is Jos Verstappen? Why isn’t he celebrating arguably the greatest dominance ever seen in Formula 1?

Despite the sorrows of the Singapore GP, Max Verstappen has been the dominant force in F1. Jos Verstappen was last seen at the Belgium GP but hasn’t been in the paddock since the summer break ended. Did Max and Jos have another argument? Well, it doesn’t seem like they have. But it felt a little odd to not have the guy who taught Max Verstappen everything about racing, absent from the Dutchman’s home race.

Max Verstappen equaled Sebastian Vettel’s record of consecutive wins at the Dutch GP and surpassed it at the Italian GP. The whole Verstappen family was at the Dutch GP, including the Grandma except for Jos Verstappen. Jos Verstappen was there when Max won his championships, but not when he equaled or surpassed Vettel’s record. But why is it so?

Jos Verstappen is still an active racing driver. To be precise, a rally driver. Most of these racing events take place during the weekend. Unfortunately, the last 2 rally races coincided with the Italian and Singapore GP. And it’s impossible for a person to be in two places simultaneously. Whilst Max Verstappen’s record-breaking moment was huge, a true racing driver never leaves his/her team alone, no matter what. And that’s exactly what Jos Verstappen did.

However, as per Verstappen.com, there was no rally for the Dutch GP weekend. That mystery still remains to be solved. But whether Jos Verstappen is on the track or not, he continues to support and defend his son. The question now remains, when will we see Jos Verstappen back in the F1 paddock?

Will Jos Verstappen attend the Japanese GP to support Max Verstappen?

While Jos Verstappen might not have been at the Dutch GP, he made sure to defend his son. When Jos Verstappen was told the critics find his dominance and F1 boring, Max Verstappen’s father slammed them by suggesting that they don’t understand F1. After a tough Singapore GP, Max will like the support of his father at the Japanese GP. However, it seems unlikely that Verstappen Sr. will make it to the Japanese GP.

Just like the previous two rounds, the dates for the Japanese GP coincide with Jos Verstappen’s rally dates. The East Belgian Rally takes place on the 23rd of September, the same date as Japanese GP qualifying. And it’s hard to believe that Jos Verstappen will be able to fly from Belgium to Germany after a rally. Hence, it’s best believed that Max Verstappen’s father will not attend the Japanese GP.
