They put up this impenetrable barrier and these walls that only one person can break down—the female lead. Could you imagine that happening in the real world? Well, it’s time you start believing it does because that’s exactly what Max Verstappen is like. In the Formula 1 paddock, he may be someone whose only goal is to beat every other driver. But when he’s around his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, it’s like his whole world revolves around her. Talk about a story right out of BookTok. 

Verstappen and Piquet started dating at the end of 2020, and since then, they’ve been inseparable. Despite her modeling duties and the tiring F1 schedule every season, she makes it a point to come for races every chance she gets. Not to mention, she’s also a mother and has to spend time away from her daughter whenever she comes to support Verstappen. Even so, back in Monaco, Piquet, Verstappen, and Piquet’s daughter Penelope have formed something like a family, so much so that Verstappen has become the perfect stepdad.

The pair have become a significant part of each other’s lives and ensure they’re there for each other in the small moments just as much as they are in the big ones. The small moments count just as much as the big ones, and a resurfaced video showed just that. An X user posted a video of Verstappen and Piquet dreamily dancing and captioned it, “This video is still so romantic, I bet some wouldn’t expect this from Max.”

Most people see Verstappen as a cutthroat competitor, which he is. But that’s only when he’s on track. Outside the track, he’s just someone who loves spending time with his girlfriend and, of course, dancing with her. Getting acquainted with this side of the newly-crowned three-time champion left X users mushy-eyed.

In the video posted on X, Verstappen and Piquet are ballroom dancing on a rooftop. Verstappen twirled and spun Piquet, after which they shared a kiss. The cozy, intimate sequence might feel standard for any couple seemingly in love, but what made the video so striking was how different Verstappen seemed with Piquet than he seems in the paddock.
