Christian Horner revealed how Max Verstappen wasn’t able to feel his braking foot during the last lap of the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. He didn’t plan to move on the last lap, but it happened and he hoped he could feel the brake. Whilst many consider Max Verstappen as the guy who beat Hamilton in 2021, many forget the role Sergio Perez played in the campaign and his heroics against Lewis Hamilton. Nonetheless, now the Mexican has made a bold wish in front of his teammate.

Sergio Perez, who is also nicknamed the Mexican Minister of Defense, is known for his ability to defend from the cars behind and still keep his tires in optimal position. The same happened when Lewis Hamilton tried to overtake Sergio Perez at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. The Mexican, who hadn’t pitted, kept Hamilton behind, didn’t let him overtake, slowed him down, and brought Max Verstappen back into the race. Verstappen on the radio said, “Checo is a legend.”

However, Sergio Perez has now made a cheeky comment as he seemed to have gotten tired of the Mexican Minister of Defense title. After Carlos Sainz’s defense at the Italian GP, he was asked if he was the new Minister of Defense. Sergio Perez cut him off and mentioned that he’d like to be the minister of attack as well, since he needed to win the title.

During the press conference, Carlos Sainz said, “I’m happy to share the Minister of Defence titles of Spain, and Checo Mexican, no? We can have a dinner, a political dinner, no?” Checo then replied, “Minister of attacks as well. We need that title!”

Sergio Perez didn’t have a great qualifying and started out of position. Despite this, the sheer speed of the RB19 helped him make his way to the back of the Ferrari duo. However, it looked very hard for the Mexican driver to overtake the straight-line merchant, Ferrari. Eventually, he did and secured P2. When asked if he thought that he wouldn’t be able to do that, he agreed and suggested that at times he did think of that.

According to FIA.com, when asked if he thought about not being able to pass the Ferraris, Sergio Perez said, “Yeah, I really thought that at times, especially in the beginning, you know, like, I couldn’t get close to Charles because we were stuck in the DRS. I started to put the pressure on Charles and he lost the DRS from Carlos. And then yeah, it was also a lot of fighting with him and in then in the end we managed to get both of them.”
