It was inevitable, but after the 2023 Qatar GP Sprint race, Max Verstappen officially put his stamp on the driver’s championship title. The Dutchman has been absolutely unstoppable in the current season and his P2 in the Sprint race was enough to seal the championship, even though he hated it. However, did that make the Red Bull man take the foot off the peddle? Absolutely not! Verstappen went out and won the Qatar GP main race as well to stamp his authority once again. He did so despite the FIA and F1’s best efforts to halt his juggernaut.

F1 veteran journalist Peter Windsor best explained this Hail Mary thrown by the sports authorities in light of driver’s safety. These antics could’ve taken the advantage away from Verstappen and Co. However, the Austrian team’s race strategy and Verstappen’s driving made it a cakewalk once again. Regardless, let us explain this challenge, which was introduced by F1 for a better understanding, in Peter Windsor’s words as seen in his latest YouTube video.

Windsor said, “The next point of course is the effectively three mandatory pit stops in the Grand Prix. No driver could do more than 18 laps on one set of tires. That took the race advantage a little bit away from Max Verstappen and Red Bull. Because what they do have with that great RB19 is the ability, with Max’s driving as well, to extend the stint. To manage the tires perhaps better than any other team.”

However, Verstappen’s juggernaut rendered these tactics useless as he and Red Bull executed the race perfectly. In fact, the team Dutchman and the incredible team behind him have executed the entire season perfectly, with the exception of Singapore.

No matter how impossible it seemed at first, Verstappen’s three consecutive championships placed him among the greats of F1, and this impossible feat incredibly overwhelmed him.

Verstappen has now won his third championship in a row. The Dutchman fought tooth and nail for his first one and enjoyed a fairly comfortable path to his next two. However, nothing can be taken away from the Dutchman, as he has joined an exclusive F1 club by winning his championships back to back.

What’s more incredible is despite his dominance over the sport at the moment, he is staying extremely humble. His reaction during an interview with David Coulthard revealed that after his achievement was compared to the F1 greats.

To this, Verstappen replied, “These kinds of things I never thought were possible when I started racing. I remember watching F1, and you’re like, ‘I want to be on that podium, I want to try and win races.’”

“Now that you’re here with three titles, it’s quite crazy to think about. You never really think these kinds of things are possible and put your name in between those names,” added Verstappen.
