The past two years have been massively unlucky for Daniel Ricciardo. At the end of 2022, Ricciardo found himself without a race seat for the first time in his illustrious F1 career as McLaren gave him the boot. And just when he was afforded a rare 2nd chance by his old employers, Red Bull, tragedy struck again. Ricciardo was supposed to enter his third outing with AlphaTauri at the Dutch GP this weekend. However, as things stand, he might have jeopardized his whole season.
During the Free Practice 2 session being held at Zandvoort, the Australian was trying to leave a mark on proceedings. However, he had an untimely meeting with the barriers out of turn 3. After the McLaren of Oscar Piastri lost it at the same turn a few moments ago, Ricciardo who was caught off guard followed suit. What’s more? It left him with a broken wrist and gave Liam Lawson his F1 debut. But no sooner was the Honey Badger into the wall, that the Marshalls who oversaw his safety bestowed him with a heartwarming gesture.
