Max Verstappen surpassed Sebastian Vettel’s consecutive win records at the Italian GP. While the whole world celebrated and acknowledged the feat that Verstappen had achieved, Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff refrained from it. With the Singapore GP up next, Max Verstappen took the occasion to accuse Toto Wolff (a supposed Red Bull employee) of misplacing Lewis Hamilton and George Russell’s anger at him. What did Verstappen say?

Toto Wolff advised that Max Verstappen’s consecutive win record is just for the Wikipedia page and nothing more than that. However, Max Verstappen advised that Toto Wolff is just getting angry at him because of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell’s subpar performance. Mercedes were nowhere near the pace of Red Bull and Ferrari at Monza. Even Zandvoort wasn’t a great weekend.

As Verstappen called Wolff a Red Bull employee and accused him of misplacing the anger, he said, “They had a bad race in Monza, so he was probably still disappointed about that. It sometimes seems as if he is an employee of our team, but fortunately that is not the case

Mercedes only managed a sorry P5 and P6 at the Italian GP as both the cars finished a country mile behind the Red Bulls and the Ferraris. Mercedes seems to be a little down since the second half of the season began. Nonetheless, Toto Wolff defended Mercedes’ poor performance at Monza.

Toto Wolff reveals the reason behind the sub-par performance at Monza

Mercedes W14 is known to be a draggy car and Monza is all about straight-line speed. That drag meant Mercedes had to run a low downforce package which comprised the chicanes and corners around Monza. As a result, they were nowhere near the pace of front runners. Toto Wolff advised W14 characteristics as he explained how Mercedes maximized the weekend.

According to Mirror.co.uk, Toto Wolff said, “We maximized the result in Monza with the package we had – that will be important across the rest of the season to secure second in the constructors. At a circuit that didn’t necessarily suit the characteristics of our car, we were still competitive. It’s encouraging to see that the W14 is performing well across a range of tracks.”
