As Formula 1 fans, we have gotten so accustomed to hearing Red Bull dominating Formula 1 in the last 2 years that we tend to forget that their parent brand doesn’t even work in the automobile sector, let alone motorsports. Still, they have managed to ascend mountains in the recent past that have left actual car manufacturers like Mercedes and Ferrari dumbfounded. Their secret to success has finally been disclosed by Team Principal Christian Horner.
The Toto Wolff v/s Christian Horner rivalry is one that is spicier than Mexican food. On nearly every other race weekend, they take shots at each other. Amid all this verbal diarrhea, one can’t ignore that Red Bull is still coming out on top. And all Mercedes can do is watch on as an energy drink gives Max Verstappen wings to fly. But the serious reason for their rampage, according to Horner, lies in taking the unconventional route.

“You need nonconformists to succeed in F1,” Horner said, as quoted by f1iautojournal. “Sometimes they can make your life a little uncomfortable, but you need them to push the boundaries in an environment as competitive as Formula 1. We are not Mercedes or Ferrari. Our parent company manufactures energy drinks. And we could never have beaten all these manufacturers without this non-conformist approach.”
Pushing their boundaries with out-of-the-box thinking is working wonders for the Milton Keynes outfit. However, there has been one thing that isn’t working for them. Still, the British Team Principal’s outlook remains positive.

Horner’s way of answering that question is by taking the former route. “We have a contract,” Horner explained to Speedcafe. “We’re happy with Checo and he will be our driver next year. If he, if Checo delivers, we’ll keep going with Checo.”
