The safety measures in F1 have come a long way since the beginning of the sport, yet are so far from being perfectly safe. Even in the modern era, just one tiny thing going wrong can lead to a life-ending crash. Yet the F1 drivers push beyond the limit to find that perfect lap, all the while putting their lives at risk. There’s something special about hustling a car at 200+ mph around a track, with the adrenaline pumping, and the poor machine on the edge of its limit. Max Verstappen’s sister has now echoed Michael Schumacher’s concern as she rejects F1. But why?

Despite loving the sport so much, many drivers wouldn’t want their kids to race in motorsports just because of the sheer risks involved in it. Michael Schumacher thought the same as he witnessed Ayrton Senna passing away because of the 1994 San Marino GP crash. While Schumacher Sr. never stopped Mick from doing anything that he loved, he did advise his son on the risks involved.

According to @maxvcalloway’s Tweet, Victoria Verstappen said, “I prefer to see them on the football field than on the go-kart track. The funny thing is that Luka is absolutely crazy about cars, even though I have stimulated everything but that. It clearly runs in the family.”

Victoria advised that despite trying loads of things, she’s not been able to diminish Luka’s craze for cars. Nonetheless, both Jos Verstappen and Michael Schumacher had to make this choice for their kids as well. How did it unfold?

Jos Verstappen and Michael Schumacher were great friends back in their racing days. The two went together on vacation with their families. Max Verstappen fondly remembers the 7x champion and uncle, Michael. Yet both Verstappen and Schumacher had very different ideas as to whether their kids will become future F1 stars or not.

According to sportsmanor.com, Jos Verstappen said, “I think this could be the first time we have an argument if our two would be racing. For sure, they are a very similar age and they will compete with each other if they grow up and decide into go-karts.” Whereas Schumacher said “I think horse-riding or golf is a much better sport for our kids”
