Max Verstappen and Red Bull had a shocker of an evening in Singapore. It’s as if their fairytale came crashing down with all their competitors performing better than them. Rookie Liam Lawson with experience of only a couple of races knocked Max out in Q2. However, Verstappen is back to his normal ways as he smashed another record. This time it’s Michael Schumacher‘s 20-year-old record. But what is the record about?
Max Verstappen and Red Bull have broken record after record this year. After a disappointing outing in Singapore that ended his winning streak, the Dutchman is back with a bang at the Japanese GP. Verstappen looked strong all weekend but turned on his god mode during the Q3 session. McLaren looked close to challenging Verstappen for the pole but the two-time champion was having none of it.

Max Verstappen stormed the field and took the pole in Japan 0.581 seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri in P2. Doing so, Max broke Michael Schumacher’s record from 2004 when the 7X champion took the pole with a gap of 0.490 seconds. The Red Bull star just continues to amaze. Just when we think someone might pip him, Verstappen pulls out a trick from his pandora’s box and raises the bar even higher.

However, Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s dream of the ultimate record for any F1 team was broken at the Singapore GP. What was the record? Let’s have a look at all the records broken by this deadly combination this season along with the one that was shattered in Singapore.

Max Verstappen equaled Ayrton Senna’s win tally at the Canadian GP and has surpassed it since then. Red Bull also broke McLaren’s long-standing record from 1988, when McLaren won 11 consecutive races in a season. Red Bull surpassed the record in Hungary and added 3 more wins to the tally. The Milton Keynes team now holds the record with 15 wins.
Verstappen also surpassed Sebastian Vettel’s consecutive win record at the Italian GP as he won his 10th consecutive race. However, the dream to extend that streak was shattered in Singapore. Also, Red Bull’s ultimate dream of winning all the races in a season was shattered when neither Sergio Perez nor Max Verstappen were able to win the Singapore GP.
