Ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix, a candid Max Verstappen stated, “I think the [F1] season are getting very long, as long that we’re winning it’s very hard to step away from the sport, but I think there’s also more out there than F1.”. With F1 looking to increase the number of races in a calendar year in order to increase revenue, Verstappen’s insight is quite valuable from a driver’s perspective.
This is somewhat similar to what’s happening in the world of football. As with an increase in the number of international games, football athletes like Thibaut Courtois and more have been vocal about the sport’s organization not taking the athletes in consideration. This is especially considering when that the FIFA and FIA have faced heavy criticism for their controversial decisions.
Verstappen further added, “I want to drive different kind of championships and also build up something myself, in terms of maybe a racing team or whatever. So yeah, I don’t want to drive, let’s say, forever.”

Verstappen’s comments perfectly highlight his ambitions and offers us an insight into the insight into his future trajectory. Moreover, with him wanting to driver different racing championships, his absence will be noticeable in F1. However, Verstappen’s ambition of one day owning a racing team is very interesting.
Whether his dreams of owning a race team end up happening or not, he’ll certainly be able to get sponsors with ease. However, this clearly signals that Max Verstappen is not a fan of mores races being added to F1. His open admission about the season being long will certainly spark some conversations.
