A historic win at a historic circuit in a phenomenal fashion, the Italian GP had Max Verstappen‘s name written all over it. Driving for the same team that Sebastian Vettel conquered F1 with 9 consecutive wins in 2013, the Dutchman went above and beyond to break that record. And Red Bull was there to back him all throughout. Along with them, a big contributor to his success is his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, who was present at Monza to cheer the RB racer on. 304134 fans, albeit most of them being Ferrari supporters, witnessed Verstappen etching his name in the history books of Formula 1. Alberto Ascari and Sebastian Vettel were the 2 drivers who held the record for most wins in a row at 9. On Sunday at Monza, with his effortless victory, Max Verstappen broke the record and created history. Though he had said that the numbers didn’t matter to him, this instance mattered to him.
Verstappen said, in a post-race interview, “10 wins in a row is a record I am very happy about; it is something you don’t even think about trying to achieve because it is very unlikely that those kinds of things happen. I am very proud it has happened and proud of what the Team has done again today. The whole year has been pretty incredible so far. And, of course, a one-two today as well, here in Monza, is special for us all.”
