All eyes were on Christian Horner in the press conference of the team principals on day 1 of pre-season testing. However, the anticipation was not about the on-track performance of the RB20, but rather about the off-track drama surrounding the Red Bull team boss that could potentially see him parting ways with the Milton Keynes-based outfit. But the Brit didn’t seem interested in answering any of the questions surrounding the case he is involved in.

For more than 2 weeks now, there has been an internal investigation going on against Horner after a female colleague made allegations of inappropriate behavior. The allegations were first made public by the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. Soon after the report came out, Red Bull released a statement announcing that they had hired a specialist barrister to look into the matter and they wanted this case to be resolved as quickly as possible.

As part of the investigation, Christian Horner was interrogated by the lawyers overseeing the case on Friday, February 9th at an unknown location in central London. The session was said to have lasted more than 8 hours but didn’t yield any conclusion. According to reports, the session was part of a long process that will go on for weeks.

The investigators will most likely interview other Red Bull Racing employees to corroborate Horner’s side of the story. Day 1 of the pre-season test in Bahrain was Christian Horner’s 2nd public appearance since the start of the internal probe. During the conference, he sidestepped the questions regarding the ongoing investigation with a simple no comments.

Without going into any specifics, Horner said as reported by FormulaPassion.it, “I am a party to an ongoing trial and I cannot comment on it… I cannot comment on the trial and its timing. We all want it to be resolved as soon as possible, for the good of the team, but I can’t comment.

“There is a lot of speculation that has been happening over the past weeks and lots of things that are going on,” Wolff acknowledged as per a report from BBC. “What is important is for a process with rigor. I think what Red Bull has started as an independent investigation, if this is done in the right way, with transparency, that is something we need to look at… We are a global sport, one of the most important sports in the world, and we are role models. It is not just a team issue. It is an issue for all of F1.
