The first Grand Prix at the Las Vegas Strip Street Circuit comes to an end. The race was anything but boring. 3 cars led at some different points during the race. But eventually l, the inevitable happened and Max Verstappen took the win away from Charles Leclerc. Nonetheless, despite Max Verstappen’s rant about the Las Vegas GP, he reveals celebration plans that are hypocritical. But why?

Coming into the Las Vegas GP, Max Verstappen was skeptical of the race being all about the show and not about the racing itself. The Dutchman said the same in front of the media. Verstappen added how F1 is leaning onto the show aspect to promote the event much more than the actual sporting side. He explained how fans come for the party and have a good time but the same can be done in Ibiza if they want to just do that.

Max Verstappen said, “Most of them just come to have a party, drink, see a DJ play or a performance act. I can do that all over the world. I can go to Ibiza and get completely sh*tfaced and have a good time. But that’s what happens [at races].”

However, after winning the race, Verstappen’s celebration plans seemed quite ironic after what he said about the Las Vegas GP. As the limousine took the podium finished to the fountains near the Bellagio for the post-race ceremony, Verstappen was heard saying, “We’ll go straight to a nightclub

Verstappen also seemed to have gone back on his words about the Las Vegas GP about it being just a show and not a sporting event. Let’s see what the Dutchman said.

The Las Vegas GP was full of action with a super tight battle for the win. While Verstappen took the win, at one point it looked like Charles Leclerc had the win easily in his pocket. Nonetheless, the long Las Vegas Strip straight provided loads of action and overtaking, thanks to the DRS zone. Verstappen also seemed to have forgotten about his “99% show and 1% sporting event” comments as he advised on having fun during the race.

During the post-race interview taken by David Coulthard, Max Verstappen was heard saying, “It was a lot of fun. I hope everyone enjoyed it. We definitely did. Excited to come back here next year and do something similar.”
