Winter is not just coming, it’s already here, and it might just make the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix that much more interesting. Additionally, Christian Horner highlights the bittersweet nature of this GP.
The Vegas GP hasn’t been a typical race by any means. In a recent interview with Bloomberg Surveillance, Christian Horner sat down and got candid about the cold temperature at the upcoming Las Vegas GP. Rather than rivaling the other iconic circuits for being the most exciting Grand Prix, the Vegas GP is set to rival the 1978 Canadian Grand Prix, which is currently the coldest race ever with a temperature of just 5°C.
When asked about Horner and Red Bull’s approach to an event with very low temperature and no prior experience, a wise Horner answered humorously, by stating, “Take a Jacket”. We’re quite sure that all the drivers would love to, especially while driving the car. A shame that there’s no heater in an F1 car.
Horner further added, “I was watching Max on the simulator yesterday driving around the circuit. It looks a great track. I mean, it’s gonna be super fast, there’s gonna be a lot of overtaking, opportunities, and the tires. It could be like driving on ice. You know which just adds another dimension. So, particularly on a road course on a street circuit, that can test the drivers and the team to the absolute maximum. “

As mentioned by Horner, the fast nature of the track with not many turns will unfortunately be a headache for the drivers. Getting heat into the tires will not only be a daunting task but could very much make or break the race, regardless of the car’s performance.
Why the Las Vegas GP might end the Max Verstappen dominance
Verstappen’s dominance in the 2023 season has been historic in every nature. While the competitiveness of the other cars on the grid can be debated, what can’t be debated is the fact that Max Verstappen is already among one of the greats. However, the Las Vegas Grand Prix might just have a few surprises for the fans.

With the potential to extend his record number of wins in a season even further, Verstappen has unfortunately not been confident heading into the Vegas GP. In a recent interview with media outlets, he stated, “I still don’t even know the track, to be honest. The last time I tried it on the F1 game, I think I hit more walls than I was going straight, so let’s hope that’s not the case when I start driving there!”
Now, with even the champion himself so skeptical of the nature of the track, the race is bound to be exciting. Perhaps a Charles Leclerc or Lewis Hamilton race win is finally on the cards?
