Daniel Ricciardo needs to get his affairs in order. After a brutal crash during FP2 at the Dutch GP weekend today, Ricciardo has been left with a broken wrist and an unwanted extension on the sidelines. That being said, the fact of the matter is that the Honey Badger had only 10 races left this season to impress the higher-ups at Red Bull and get himself that coveted second seat. But while in the aftermath of his crash, AlphaTauri has named his replacement, the 34-year-old Australian needs to get his recovery underway as soon as possible.

Only one thing will be on Daniel Ricciardo’s mind as you read this article: How do I get back into that F1 car at the earliest? Well, for one, he needs to get a best-in-class medical professional on his case soon. Lucky for him, he doesn’t need to venture further than the paddock to find one!

At the very beginning of this season, Lance Stroll found himself in a similar predicament to Ricciardo. Just before the season began, Stroll met with a horrific accident that left his hand mangled up, too. And now, it has been suggested that the man who so miraculously and expediently patched the Canadian up has taken up Ricciardo, too.

But who exactly is this guy?

According to Motorsport-Total.com, “Our colleagues on site have found out that Ricciardo is to be operated on by Doctor Xavier Mir. Mir has made a name for himself in MotoGP in particular, where he has already operated numerous motorcycle stars. Before the start of the season, he also operated on Lance Stroll after his bicycle accident, in which the Canadian also broke his hands.” [translated via Google]

Ricciardo would want to put this whole nightmare behind him. But what does the man who seemingly caused this crash have to say for himself?

Oscar Piastri speaks out after Daniel Ricciardo crash

Piastri wasn’t directly culpable for that horrific shunt Ricciardo suffered. But the man who replaced the Honey Badger at McLaren was actually the reason why he crashed in the first place. After Piastri lost it coming out of turn three, Ricciardo, who was following him behind, got caught off guard and crashed, too.

After the incident, Piastri was quoted as saying, “I just went in a little bit hot, turned in a bit aggressively and unfortunately found the wall. A shame and unfortunate to give the guys a massive amount of work tonight but hopefully we will bounce back tomorrow and have a good day.”

“It was going to happen at some stage, of course you never want it to. Around here, especially in that corner, you pay a big consequence if you overdo it. Try not to do it again and see what we can do for the rest of the weekend.”
