In a cutthroat world like F1, it is important to have a partner who understands the complexities of the F1 world. Look at how Geri Halliwell supported Christian Horner throughout the investigation. How Susie Wolff and Toto Wolff stand up for each other on and off the track. Adrian Newey is no different, and it is believed that his wife, Amanda Smerczak is set to play an important role in his post-Red Bull career, as Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari come out as the favorites.
Adrian Newey has been linked to Ferrari since the rumors of his Red Bull exit started circling the paddock. Even last year, Scuderia tried signing Newey before he signed the extension with Red Bull. But now that his Red Bull exit is confirmed, and Newey will be leaving the team in Q1 of 2025, Ferrari can really pursue the mastermind. And it is believed that Ferrari are the favorites to sign him.

As per Daily Mail, it was reported that Amanda Smerczak has been looking for a house to buy in Italy. A move to Italy will make sense for Newey if he’s joining Ferrari. And it’s not like Newey’s wife is just buying a house for her pleasure. In a recent interview with Eddie Jordan, Adrian Newey, on the Oyster Yachts YouTube channel said, “I know I’ll miss it [Motorsports] if I don’t do it. That brings me back to the question of do I go again. Ofcourse Amanda has to be involved”
Seems as if Adrian Newey is questioning whether or not to continue in F1. And like he mentioned, his wife will play an important role and will be involved in the decision. If she is involved in the decision, then the house she’s looking to buy in Italy might just hint at a Ferrari move. Whether Newey stays in F1 or not is a debate for another day. But from his words, it looks like he’s already missing the day-to-day activities he had in F1 as a Chief Technical Officer.
Max Verstappen recently revealed how he would’ve actually preferred if Newey continued with Red Bull, but respectfully accepted and understood his reason for leaving.

Max Verstappen on Newey’s Red Bull exit: “I would’ve preferred Adrian to Stay”
Max Verstappen won all three of his championships in cars that were the child of Adrian Newey’s mastermind. The Dutchman will surely miss Newey, who was known for listening to the driver’s feedback very carefully and improving the car based on that. The 3X champ recently came out to suggest how he wouldn’t liked Newey to stay at the team, but also understood the genius’ point of view”
Speaking about Newey’s exit, Max Verstappen said, “I would have preferred, of course, Adrian to stay, but at the end of the day also… and that’s what I said to Adrian, you have to do what you think is best for yourself. F1 is a bit of a shark tank, you know, and I think it’s very important that you think about yourself, and that you make the right decision for yourself and your family. I also don’t blame him… If someone wants to leave, [and] you [want to] go and pursue other goals or things in life, that’s absolutely fine.”
