Just as James Vowles suggested, any team would be foolish if they did not approach Adrian Newey when he’s available. The Red Bull Chief Technical Officer, who announced his exit a couple of weeks ago is now linked to multiple teams including Ferrari, Williams, and Aston Martin. However, the rumors suggest Ferrari is the most likely destination. But Adrian Newey’s manager has now come out to shatter Frederic Vasseur and Co’s multi-million dollar proposition.

Adrian Newey’s Red Bull exit rumors were teased for a couple of weeks before it was officially announced. Ferrari has since then been the favorite to sign him. Even last year, before Newey signed his Red Bull extension, Ferrari made an attempt to poach him away but was unsuccessful. Regardless, sources suggested that Newey’s wife is looking to buy a house in Italy, which does raise some eyebrows.

Daily Mail recently came out to suggest that Newey has already put pen to paper and signed the mastermind. His previous pay was $15 million but Ferrari has given him a huge raise. But former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan, who recently revealed himself as Adrian Newey’s manager suggests Newey has not signed any contract yet.

Speaking with Adrian Newey on the Oyster Yachts YouTube video, Eddie Jordan said, “There’s no ink on any paper. It doesn’t matter whether it is blue, black or red. It’s not relevant. And I have a belief that no decision has been made and neither should any decision be made. He has achieved so much in his lifetime.”

Eddie Jordan closed the statement by hinting at the fact that Newey will not sign with anyone and retire from the sport altogether. Not just you, we were equally shocked when Jordan revealed that he’s Newey’s manager. But what was Christian Horner’s reaction like?

Christian Horner was stunned by Eddie Jordan’s Adrian Newey manager revelation

F1 drivers have many complexities, clauses, and conditions built into their contracts, hence they need managers who can not only represent them but also see that everything is fine. But why would Adrian Newey need a manager? Well, it’ll be surprising if someone with his stature in F1 didn’t have a manager. The surprising part however was the fact that it turned out to be Eddie Jordan. The former team owner is believed to have played a crucial role in getting Newey out of Red Bull’s clutches.

Explaining Horner’s reaction on the Formula for Success Podcast, Eddie Jordan said, “Christian [Horner], do you know what he called me? Do you know what he called me when he found this? First of all, his jaw was somewhere around near the end of his trousers. You know, it’s quite a big jaw in the first place, but he called me: ‘Ah, EJ, you’re a f**king silent assassin’.”  To which his co-host on the podcast, David Coulthard replied, “Well, you’d rather be a silent assassin than somebody hearing you coming. No one saw that coming at all. Nobody knew you were managing Adrian.”
