Adrian Newey celebrated his 63rd birthday on 26th December. The Red Bull Chief Technical Officer is the most revered engineer in the sport’s history. The Brit has been the mastermind behind some of the most dominant cars in Formula One’s history.

He also guided his team and Max Verstappen to win the drivers’ title in the 2021 season. But he was missing from a few races as he had a severe cycling accident. The accident led to Newey having multiple injuries to his head and required surgery. On his birthday, his wife Amanda Newey took to social media to wish him.

As reported by The Race, Amanda praised the resilience and the strength of her husband after the accident. She posted on Instagram about their challenging year, and this birthday is extra special for them.

“He’s not on social media. He’s very wise! However, after the year we’ve had, I’m giving him a public shoutout. August, I came close to losing the love of my life after his cycling accident. Multiple skull fractures – to then sitting on a virtual pit wall of the Dutch Grand within ten days of his craniotomy displays his strength and drive.

His recovery has been nothing short of miraculous. So this birthday feels extra special. Happy Birthday, Adrian.” said Amanda while wishing Adrian on his birthday.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner had previously mentioned that the news of Newey’s accident had been blown out of proportion by the media. During the COTA weekend, he informed Adrian was back working with the team as he was fully fit.

“He had an accident while he was on holiday and thankfully he’s back fully fit. He has been for a few weeks now,” said Horner.

Well, it is amazing to have a fully fit Adrian Newey in Formula One. He will play a crucial role for the Red Bull team in designing the new 2022 cars that might see them return to the top.
