Formula 1’s off-season can get really dull. After getting acclimatized to action-packed weekends all year long, the 3 months wait before another season begins can be really difficult. That being said, thanks to the digital age we live in, we always have something to binge on to kill time. Netflix will be premiering the 5th season of their famous F1 docuseries Drive to Survive on the 24th of February, 2023. But in the meantime, it appears that Red Bull boss Christian Horner’s wife and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell isn’t that keen on another Netflix hit.
Netflix’s popular British drama ‘The Crown’ is a retelling of the British Royal Family’s history from the 1940s to the present day. The show boasts itself of being factually very accurate as well as having excellent production value. That being said, the show hasn’t gone down too well with Halliwell for a very personal reason.

According to the Daily Star, Halliwell has a few friends in the Royal Family. However, she shares a close affinity with Prince Harry. And this is exactly why the 50-year-old doesn’t really like watching the show.

She was quoted by The Sun in 2020, saying, “I watched a little bit of it but I feel uncomfortable doing so. These people are still alive. There’s something about it which doesn’t sit right. We have a lot of choice, there are a lot of other amazing programmes out there we could be watching.”
“It’s beautifully shot but I don’t connect with it. I feel it’s someone’s mother, is that right that it should become someone’s entertainment.”
Nowadays, Halliwell likes to grace the screens of F1 broadcasts. However, the Crown hopes to regain some favor with the Brit after this move.
Ginger Spice, Geri Halliwell to make her Crown debut
Word must’ve reached the makers of the Crown that the 50-year-old pop icon wasn’t a fan of their show. As fate would have it, though, Halliwell’s career is intertwined with the Royal Family. And staying true to their form, the creators in pursuit of making an accurate show have now decided to incorporate Halliwell into the newest season.

According to ETCanada, “Photos have emerged of star Dominic West — who plays Prince Charles — filming on location at Winchester Cathedral. Also photographed was a red-haired actress wearing a skimpy Union Jack-patterned outfit, the spitting image of Spice Girls star Geri Halliwell during her Ginger Spice days.”
