Red Bull and Max Verstappen together put on a dominant display this season. The Dutchman did not just win the drivers’ championship with 4 races to go but also helped his team win the constructors’ championship. Gushing over his driver’s superior racing prowess, team boss Christian Horner made some tall claims.

Max Verstappen did not start the season on the best of notes. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc won twice in the first 3 races and at one point in the season had 46 points more than the Dutchman. Red Bull, who were facing the issue of the car being overweight, made quick amendments and delivered championship-winning machinery. Verstappen, as we all know, made the most of it and smashed records left, right, and center.
Christian Horner showers praise over champion Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen did not just beat Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel’s 13 race wins in a season record, but also bettered it with 15 wins. In that course, the Flying Dutchman also set the record for the highest number of points ever accrued over a season. Once he was on song, no other driver could come near him.
Red Bull team principal thinks no driver can beat him even if they put them in the same car. Mirror quoted Horner saying, “I think Max is operating at a level that I’m not sure anybody – with the way he’s driving at the moment – in the same equipment would be able to repeat what he’s done this year.”
This is surely no good news for Sergio Perez, who recently expressed his desire to win the title next year.
Sergio Perez, who is a driver with years of experience, could not match his teammate’s pace. That goes on to show just how good Verstappen has been all season. Even Martin Brundle could not help but admire Max’s driving style in Abu Dhabi and compared him with one of F1’s greatest.

Relations between Sky Sports and Red Bull have been far from ideal in the last few days. After the US GP, Ted Kravitz was reporting from the pit lane. Kravitz touched upon last year’s Abu Dhabi GP during the coverage and used the word “robbed” for Lewis Hamilton. The comments did not inspire a positive response from Red Bull as they boycott the broadcaster for an entire racing weekend after that.
Former F1 driver and current Sky Sports presenter Martin Brundle was, however, all praises for Max Verstappen. Brundle witnessed Verstappen drive with ease and still gain on other drivers. As the race progressed to Lap 48, Brundle remarked, “This is sort of a Michael Schumacher-esque drive here from Max Verstappen. It almost looks however slow he’s driving, he’s pulling away. It just looks so casual.”
