The Brazilian GP main race seemed like an episode from Netflix’s Drive to Survive. From DNFs and collisions to tensions among teammates, it had everything. Sergio Perez would perhaps be the most disappointed driver to leave the race. Max Verstappen denied team orders to let the Mexican pass even though Perez is fighting for P2 in the driver’s championship.

Max Verstappen won his 2nd title 3 races ago in Japan. Moreover, it would be fair to say that his teammate, Checo Perez, had an important role in both of his championships. There are multiple instances over the past couple of years where the Mexican has helped Verstappen in his title charge. However, the Dutchman turned a blind eye when the chance came to return the favor.

After a safety car period toward the ending stages of the race, Leclerc was running P4 and Perez was P7. Verstappen, who was a place ahead of the Mexican, was instructed to let Perez pass in the final lap of the race by Christian Horner. However, that didn’t happen.

Christian Horner has since come out and stated, “We work as a team, we race as a team and our objective and priority is to see if we can get Checo to finish runner-up in the championship.”

“It’s something we’ve never achieved as a team before, and Max has given his commitment as well.”

Checo would have felt hard done by the world champions. Moreover, it will be important for Christian Horner to solve the issue internally before things start to get out of hand.

Max Verstappen claims it’s not the “end of the world” for Checo after brutal snub at Brazil

Fans were enraged with Max Verstappen after he didn’t help Checo in his quest to get P2 in the world championship. After yesterday’s results, Perez and Checo are tied on points and will enter the Abu Dhabi GP for a head-to-head battle. Moreover, here’s what Max Verstappen had to say about the incident after the race.

Verstappen told Sky Sports, “For sure, if we go to Abu Dhabi and he needs it – they are tied, you know, so it’s not the end of the world, it’s all about who finishes ahead anyway.”

He further added, “If he needs the help, I’ll be there, but it’s good that we talk about it now and cleared everything that was there, on why we didn’t do it.

Meanwhile, Sergio Perez was left red-faced and shocked after Verstappen crossed the checkered flag without giving Checo the place.

It will be important for Checo to keep the distraction from the Brazilian GP away and focus on the final race of the season. He still has the chance to finish above the Monegasque driver in Abu Dhabi.

Moreover, Red Bull will also be focused on achieving the same feat. The Milton-Keynes team has never had, a 1-2 finish in the driver’s championship. Will the Mexican and Red Bull triumph?
