Juri Vips, the Red Bull junior driver, has had a tumultuous year. He hasn’t particularly impressed in the F2 championships. However, he came into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons earlier in the year. As it turns out, he may be able to redeem his racing career after all.

Vips was suspended from his role at Red Bull after he was caught using a racial slur live on a Twitch stream. However, he was retained by his F2 team HiTech. But with his soured relations with Red Bull, his Formula 1 chances are slim. But he does have one last ace up his sleeve.

According to Motorsport.com, “Vips will pilot a Rahal Letterman Lanigan-Honda around the 1.7-mile short course at Sebring, while Armstrong will take the wheel of a Dale Coyne Racing-Honda.”

This is in fact an IndyCar test for Vips.

Vips could have a potential race seat in IndyCar for 2023. “Vips could be a potential replacement for Jack Harvey, who suffered a dire year at RLL relative to teammates Graham Rahal and Christian Lundgaard.”

But with a chance in F1 virtually non-existent, you’d expect him to give it another shot at F2. However, as Vips would explain himself, his chances of getting an F2 seat for 2023 also might be swindling.

Juri Vips believes chances of a 2023 F2 race seat are very “difficult” to arrive after Red Bull snub

Juri Vips has had a nightmarish 2022. His performances on track haven’t been satisfactory. However, his Twitch stream scandal has blown his chances out of the water to secure an F1 or F2 seat for 2023.

Talking about his year, Vips said, “I mean, it’s tough to find the words [to describe 2022]. It’s been really, really tough. It’s also taught me a lot of things, I think I’ve grown a lot as a person, and as a driver as well.”

However, he was not too optimistic about a 2023 race seat in F2. “We’re still looking into next year. It’s looking quite difficult at the moment, based on where we are in the championship and how the season’s gone. We’re trying, but can’t give you anything yet.”
