Being the wife of a Formula 1 team’s boss Christian Horner, Geri Halliwell shares his passion for motorsport. Often spotted in the paddocks, Geri is good friends with both Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. The former Spice Girl has really got the need for speed as she starred in the upcoming Gran Turismo movie. Excited, she recently shared the trailer of the movie. However, fans’ response was far from receiving.
Directed by Neill Blomkamp, and starring David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Archie Madekwe, the movie boasts of quite a star cast. Based on the life of Jann Mardenborough, the movie tells the story of a Gran Turismo player. Mardenborough won a series of Nissan competitions and later became an actual professional race car driver.

The movie, made in partnership with Sony PlayStation, had some stunning visuals in the released trailer. Some fast-paced thrilling shots on the track really set the tone for the movie. However, fans failed to see the appeal of the movie.
Geri, sharing the trailer on her Instagram, wrote, “Excited to share a sneak peek of #GranTurismoMovie – based on the inspiring true story of an impossible dream. In movie theaters this summer!”
Have a look at how fans reacted to the trailer on Twitter.

One fan pointed out how well-crafted the intro to the Gran Turismo 7 game was. The idea of having a film after that just seemed mundane.
who needs a Gran Turismo movie when we have the cinematic masterpiece that is the intro to Gran Turismo 7 pic.twitter.com/mTqebBMKNM

The fact that the movie was based on the life of a pro gamer who became an actual racer was rather unappealing to some.
Lmao at the Gran Turismo movie’s plot being about a gamer who likes Gran Turismo becoming a pro racer.

One fan had a pretty harsh critique of Hollywood lately making adaptations and ruining franchises.
The creatively bankrupt Hollywood machine has really run completely out of ideas and are just adapting anything, they've ruined every franchise they've gotten their hand on and now they're scrapping the bottom of the barrel for anything to adapt. https://t.co/ZJoP9EsBOk

Another user compared the concept to that of the Need for Speed, another game that was adapted into a movie. Released in 2014, NFS too had a brilliant star cast with Aaron Paul, Rami Malek, and Dakota Johnson, to name a few.
I don't recall anyone ever asking for a Gran Turismo movie… 😐
Out of all the Sony properties out there, they announce this. We really have hit rock bottom. pic.twitter.com/Ii53SiETpR
