Advisor to Red Bull Formula 1 team, Helmut Marko has recently claimed that Ferrari is in the lead. This claim comes as both a surprise and a shock as the pre-season testing is not even over yet. While the last day of the testing at Bahrain goes on, Helmut made this remarkable claim. He further stated that “Red Bull is second. Mercedes and McLaren are right behind.”

Helmut Marko claims Ferrari is first

Although the actual reason behind Marko’s claims remains unclear, Ferrari‘s performance speaks a ton. Their car has put up a decent display of a reliable chassis if we go by the pre-season results. While Barcelona saw the team clocking in the most laps, they sit on top in the Bahrain pre-season testing as well. On day 1 of the Bahrain test, the Ferrari pair was right behind Pierre Gasly, who got P1 after setting the fastest time of the day. Moreover, on day 2, Carlos Sainz again showed a great performance, putting his Ferrari at P2.

As for now, the new F1-75 is a magnificent sight on the tracks. Both the Ferrari drivers, Leclerc and Sainz, look extremely comfortable inside the car and are putting in good results for the team. They are both expected to be top contenders for this season and one of them could become the next champion if the car turns out to be challenging.

In light of this, Helmut Marko also shared his thought on Ferrari, ” Ferrari in the lead from the first resultswith Red Bull second ahead of Mercedes and McLaren. This, however, only applies for the moment.

Sainz feels Russell’s comments are typical

Like Marko, Mercedes’ George Russell was also recently heard praising the new Ferrari. However, Sainz even clapped back on George Russell’s claims of Ferrari being the strongest. The Spaniard said, “typical Mercedes, typical George — just hype up the others and then come to the first race and blow the competition away.”

“If it would be the first year they’ve done it then I would maybe believe them but they’ve done it for five or six years now and they keep surprising us in the first race. As you can imagine I don’t believe much. … We can see what they are doing [on track] and I’m not going to say much.” The 27-year-old added.
