Sebastian Vettel hung up his helmet after the 2022 Abu Dhabi GP. This scenario was due ever since his retirement announcement came out. However, everyone, including Formula 1 entities, is predicting a return, even if it’s not as a driver. Additionally, if we are to believe Red Bull’s advisor, Dr. Helmut Marko, it’s a real possibility.

The Red Bull advisor hinted towards a return for Vettel to the sport in a more managerial role. Apparently, on a Saturday evening in Abu Dhabi, the four-time world champion had a conversation with his former bosses. Even though it was “just chatting” the conversation was all about Vettel returning to Red Bull in the top management role.

“It is not impossible that he will return in a top management position. I’m almost 80. That would be something,” says Red Bull’s consultant Helmut Marko in an interview with Sky Sports. [Translated by Google]

“We had a discussion and I think if he could get a top position in management, that could appeal to him. That crystallized in the talk. But now let’s just let him plant some trees and then we’ll see what happens,” he added.

However, Dr. Marko explained to Vettel it will be more difficult than being a driver, and that too with lesser pay. That is surely not a scenario every driver would like to picture themselves in. Although, despite the management role’s shortcomings, both Mark and Christian Horner can see Vettel excelling in the management role.
