“You have to look at what Masi has been doing over the years. Now, the race director’s knowledge will expand even further. There will be a virtual race check with all the data and photos to assist the race director, accompanied by veteran consultant Herbie Blash. If Masi had all these things, it would have been easier to decide,” said Marko.
“Besides that, radio conversations between race control and teams will be restricted for the convenience of the upcoming race director. This was done to mitigate an impact, which was certainly huge on our part as well as Mercedes. Masi could have benefited from the new rules too. He was more of a pawn,” said the 78-year-old.

It is nice to see Helmut sympathize with Masi and show his support during his hard time. But many would argue that Marko and Red Bull played their part in the firing of Masi, the same as Mercedes. However, that would still be up for debate. Let’s hope we see the Aussie in a new role with the FIA soon in the 2022 season.
