Mercedes was looking at a winless season this year. However, the rising star, George Russell, came to their rescue with a win in the Brazilian Grand Prix. Mercedes has been struggling with their W-13 and its issues with porpoising all year long and it hasn’t been a straightforward journey. This has been hindering the Silver Arrow’s performance and has held them back from showcasing their absolute best.
Red Bull team’s principal empathizes with Mercedes
Red Bull boss, Christian Horner, came forward in empathy for the fellow F1 team. Horner believes that Red Bull understands what Mercedes is going through, as the Austrian team dealt with a similar situation back in 2014.
Red Bull team principal looks back in time to when they were dominant in the year 2013. However, with new rules in place, Red Bull felt lost in the subsequent years that followed.
He said, “We went through that pain. In 2013, we finished that very dominant streak, and in 2014-with the change [in regulations], we were nowhere. “
“We never lost belief, people’s heads dropped, but you have to keep focused on a target. Everybody’s just kept focused on that, on that challenge, on the goal of getting back to a winning position,” he said, in conclusion.
Mercedes star, Lewis Hamilton, claims that the Silver Arrows will be back stronger next year with a better car.
Lewis Hamilton has claimed Mercedes knows exactly what they need to do
The seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, is confident that the Silver Arrows will come back stronger next year.
Hamilton has been constantly vocal about the issues that the W-13 posed for the team’s progress in the current season. Reports suggest Hamilton has been actively part of the testing of the W-13 in order to make improvements.
The Mercedes car went through relevant upgrades in the past few races that helped them to perform substantially better. However, it wasn’t enough for the Mercedes drivers to put their best foot forward.
Lewis Hamilton said, “There are so many positives. The upgrade, really, really worked in the last race. We still have improvements to make, which we probably won’t make the rest of the year, but we know exactly where we need to improve for next year.”
