“Another backing to the record, but to avail what?” This is the question that Lewis Hamilton fans are left asking themselves as they found another backer for their claims of injustice at the hands of the race control during the 2021 title decider, the Abu Dhabi GP. It is now etched forever in the brains of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen for totally different reasons.
The latest addition to the testimonials in favor of the Mercedes driver is none other than the safety car driver for the GPs, someone who has experience driving over 400 weekends in F1 – Bernd Mayländer. The German has been playing his role diligently for over two decades. But his name hardly comes up as he continues to ace it. A hero on the track, has now become an off-track advocate for Lewis Hamilton fans as well. He recently expressed his views on the decision of the race control, which led to Max Verstappen claiming his maiden title.
Speaking with Auto Motor und Sport, the safety car driver confessed, “I went through the hospitality with the helmet on [the head] and first sat at the back of the harbor. I first had to think about what actually happened there?” Certainly, the narration is too powerful, as one can imagine the proceedings of the race. This has now left the LH army even more enraged, as all hopes of reversing the decision, despite the efforts of far too many advocates, appear to be gone.

Since he lost the title, Lewis Hamilton seems to have not recovered well. The woes continued in 2022 as a winless season only added to his and the fans’ plight as they saw their arch-nemesis running away with the title.
Max fans celebrated because it wasn’t their driver. One day it will be. It’ll happen to all of them eventually, silence is complicity https://t.co/DKbsdMR7Wq
