Max Verstappen led the sprint race after overtaking Kevin Magnussen in the opening stages of the race. Moreover, he seemed to have control of the race, but George Russell had other ideas. The Dutch Lion then had minor contact with Carlos Sainz, which saw his front wing getting damaged. As a result, Verstappen lost places and finished P4.
Moreover, Sergio Perez quickly realized the situation and asked Red Bull to play a tactical switch. Sergio Perez led Charles Leclerc by 5 points in the WDC before the start of the sprint. However, watching Max struggle, the Mexican asked Red Bull to favor him for the Dutch Lion in his chase for P2 in the driver’s championship.
Perez said, “Am I going to have his position? I need the points.”
Subsequently, fans criticized the 2022 constructor’s champions for denying the former Force India driver’s request.

Moreover, people also blamed Red Bull for not caring enough about the Mexican driver.
It amazes me how @redbullracing does only things for Max but when @SChecoPerez needs the support everyone is silent. So disappointed with redbull

Max Verstappen is a bad teammate … He already secured the win and so did RedBull. There's literally no reason not to give Checo the position other than selfishness #F1Sprint

@Max33Verstappen don't you think is time to give something back to @SChecoPerez ? You have nothing to prove, you are world champ, you teammate needs some points #douche

The championship is done & dusted, yet perez must still be asking if he can overtake his teammate who has damage & is considerably slower 😭 redbull doesn’t care about perez, it’s so sad pic.twitter.com/Sj48niWtgs

Sergio Perez will start just ahead of Charles Leclerc in tomorrow’s main race. It will be important for him to defend as well as attack the ones in front of him in order to keep Leclerc at bay. Do you think the Mexican can finish second in the driver’s championship ahead of the Ferrari driver?
