Esteban Ocon was all praises for Sir Lewis Hamilton in the new F1: Beyond the Grid podcast. They recently interviewed him and he shed some light on various F1 situations in his life.
Ocon notably opened up about his 2019 drop. He spoke in-depth about the trauma he faced and the struggles and blessings of being trackside without a car for almost a year.

Esteban that year acted as a Mercedes reserve driver and was responsible for heavy feedback on team simulations. The French driver surely learned a lot from the year, which challenged him mentally and physically.
However, during those tough times, Toto Wolff took the Frenchman under his wing as he got a chance to witness how the Silver Arrows’ camp works.

Lewis Hamilton has been the Mercedes star driver for a long time, and his career stats remain fascinating. When specifically asked about Hamilton and his talent; “What is his stand out quality apart from his speed?”, Ocon revealed, “Apart from his speed, yeah, his raw talent, which is really clear. I think it’s his ability to switch from one thing to another.”
“For example, you will have commitment he had there, he’s running the whole day, basically, but what is difficult to do is coming back from a commitment and straight away go to the point with the engineers and point out where the issues are.”

Giving further insight into Hamilton’s work ethic, he said, “As soon as he was sitting on that chair, he has his little notes and he could go through what he needed to go faster straight away, he didn’t need to have time to refocus, refresh or whatever, he’s not losing time.”

Lewis’s F1 journey arguably has been very inspiring for many young drivers. He is a seven-time world champion, who has played a big role in Mercedes’s success. However, this season has not been kind to Sir Hamilton, who struggles profusely to get back to the front row. On the other hand, Ocon seems to perform well for the French team Alpine and has been consistent.
