Lewis Hamilton recently came in support of the Rwandan-Belgian motorsport driver and Sky Sports F1 analyst, Naomi Schiff. An account had claimed that she was not qualified enough in order to be commentating on matters related to Formula 1. There were other negative reactions, too.

However, people rushed in to refute the negative view of the account. Many other journalists have also taken note of the view and claimed that Naomi is highly professional and is qualified to give her view in Formula 1.

What Lewis Hamilton tweeted in support of the F1 Presenter

Naomi initially reacted by posting the yawning emoji in response to the negative tweet. And then finally Lewis Hamilton gave his view on the issue. “Naomi is an ex-professional racing driver & totally qualified to give her opinion as part of the Sky team,” Hamilton wrote.

“She’s been a great asset since joining & we should welcome more representative broadcasting with open arms. Still have a long way to go to change these attitudes in sport.”

For the seven-time world champion to back Naomi was the biggest boost needed to shut down any conversation about her being unqualified. Taking to her Instagram story, she thanked Lewis for giving his thoughts and also thanked others for pitching their positive thoughts. “Thank you to everyone who has come to my defense,” she wrote.

“Sadly the issue of online bullying, bashing, shaming etc. is one I don’t believe is going anywhere anytime soon. Social media, in some cases, gives voices to individuals who don’t deserve to be heard.”

She concluded that she loves her job and won’t let anyone turn down her ambition and passion. Since then, the support for Schiff has only escalated on Twitter and many from the Formula 1 paddock condemned the post.

“It’s about collaboration, so I generally think that a good job has been done so far. I think it will get better. We are trying to work with the FIA and for Mohammed, it’s a huge role, big shoes to fill. We just need to give him time.”
